Privacy policy

YONOW (“we”, “us”) is an AI food-discovery service for Dubai, available as a mobile app and at this website. You describe what you feel like eating; we suggest dishes from partner restaurants and take you to a third-party delivery platform to order. YONOW is not a delivery service and does not process orders or payments.

• Early-access sign-up (this website): your email address and the page it was submitted from.
• Account (mobile app): email, display name and password (stored only as a salted hash).
• Preferences you choose to set: taste profile answers, diet mode (halal, vegan, keto…), allergens to avoid and medical modes such as “diabetes-friendly” or “low-sodium”. These are health-related settings; you provide them voluntarily and can clear them at any time in the app.
• Usage: your search requests, dishes you save, and the “order on platform” buttons you tap (dish, platform, time). Search logs never store your allergens, medical modes or other health settings.
• Technical: IP address and request metadata for security and rate limiting; standard server logs.

Public dish pages (/dish/…) can be opened without an account. If you tap an order button there, we record an anonymous redirect (dish, platform, time) that is not linked to any person.

• To run the service: match dishes to your request, apply your allergen, diet and medical settings, keep your history and saved items.
• To send you the early-access email you asked for. One message; no marketing lists.
• To keep the service safe: rate limiting, abuse prevention, debugging.
• To give partner restaurants aggregate statistics (how many times their dishes were shown and clicked). Partners never receive your identity, contact details or health settings.

To understand a free-text request we send the text of your request, together with a shortlist of candidate dishes, to a large-language-model provider (currently OpenAI). Your identity, allergens and medical settings are applied on our servers before this step and are not sent to the model. Requests are not used to train the provider’s models under our agreement with them.

• Delivery platforms (Talabat, Deliveroo, Noon Food): when you tap an order button we open the restaurant’s page on that platform. From that moment their privacy policy applies. We do not pass your YONOW data to them.
• Service providers that host our infrastructure and the AI provider described above, bound by data-processing terms.
• Authorities, when required by applicable law.

We do not sell personal data.

Account data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account in the app settings; this removes your profile, preferences, saved items and search history. Order-redirect records are anonymised (unlinked from you) rather than deleted, because they are the partner’s statistics. Early-access emails are deleted after launch communications or on request.

You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and withdraw consent for optional settings, at any time from the app or by contacting us. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under local law (for example the UAE PDPL or the EU GDPR); we honour them.

YONOW is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Data is transmitted over HTTPS, passwords are hashed with Argon2id, sessions use short-lived tokens that can be revoked, and access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you, we will notify you as required by law.
